Summary:
Sophie Hancock is midway to completing her PhD thesis supported by Ur Energy USA Inc. This research project will investigate the geology and hydrogeology of the Lost Creek uranium deposit, which is being prepared for In-Situ Recovery (ISR) operations by Ur-Energy USA Inc. The project will develop a wellfield scale model which can be used to investigate hydrostratigraphic and structural heterogeneities. The geologic and quantitative hydrologic models will inform future production and subsequent restoration of the site. It is hoped to make a real scientific contribution by integrating the sub-disciplines of hydrology and economic geology to understand how the formation of a uranium roll front such as Lost Creek alters the hydrologic properties of its host sediments.
